ABSTRACT

The city of Macon, GA wishes to quantify the value of their urban forest. This is a part of an ongoing effort to demonstrate how cities like Macon can reduce costs by making green space a part of their infrastructure. Pacific Meridian Resources is working with the city of Macon using a spatial database developed previously as well as additional ground samples to estimate the energy and stormwater benefits derived from the urban forest. This information will then be combined with forest canopy losses determined in a previous study to illustrate the loss of environmental benefits based on current policy and management of Macon’s urban forest.
